Homage to Taxi Driver

On the lighter side, here's some work I've done in homage of Scorsese's film 'Taxi Driver'; you're probably aware of DeNiro's famous 'are you talking to me?' scene.

At the end of the film when the plot concludes, I couldn't help but notice this drawing in the newspaper on the wall. This - I am fascinated by. A plan in perspective view illustrating the layout of the crime scene - a not so obvious architectural drawing utilized through the medium of journalism to better portray the events that have taken place.

They reckon every drawing is but an abstract representation of reality; but they all serve a purpose - to communicate.

I can't help but wonder how this style of drawing may have came to be? Perhaps big newspapers would have outsourced architects to draw crime scenes or maybe there were in house journalists who had a knack for drawing and would do this themselves.

I don't just practice architecture for work, it's also my passion, my leisure, my lifestyle. I particularly enjoy when it can overlap with my other interests such as cinema. I simply couldn't resist but to recreate this drawing by hand. Please see some drafts below and enjoy.
